Poroshenko promises to sign decree on martial law in case of onslaught on the Armed Forces’ positions in the Donbas

President Poroshenko says he will sign a decree on introduction of martial law in the state if there is an offensive against the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The key position is that if the truce is violated now, the demarcation line is crossed, the attack on the Ukrainian Armed Forces is organized, a decree on introduction of martial law will be immediately signed by me and submitted to the parliament," the president said at the Year with Poroshenko TV program which was shown by the Ukrainian TV channels Thursday night on the occasion of the year of his tenure as the president.

He stressed that legislative support for martial law introduction has been considerably "improved during that short period of time." "And I have any doubts that the martial law will be introduced in a few hours and Ukraine will demonstrate its readiness to fight a war, aspiration to victory and defense, to peace," the president said.
