70th UN General Assembly starts in NY

On September 15, the 70th UN General Assembly kicks off in New York.

According to Ukraine’s TSN news agency, delegates from 193 countries will gather to discuss urgent global challenges — international terrorism, the war on so-called "Islamic State," illegal annexation of Crimea, the Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine, climate change, and widespread human rights violations.

The Ukrainian delegation, headed by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, is to take part in the work of several key committees — on disarmament, on human rights, and on legal matters.

Ukraine’s top diplomat Pavlo Klimkin said the UN General Assembly may limit the Russian veto right.
