Car Accident Downs Power Lines In Hurst

A car accident led to a broken utility pole and downed power and cable TV lines in Hurst Sunday evening.

The accident happened in the 300 block of the Interstate 820 southbound access road near State Highways 121 and 183, Hurst police say. Only one car was involved. The injured driver was taken to the hospital.

Crews are attending to the power lines, according to Emily Sanderson, a spokeswoman for Oncor. Sanderson said the Oncor lines are hanging low to the ground.

As of 6:34 p.m., there were 1,242 power outages, Sanderson said. An hour later, that number had been cut in half.

There’s no timetable for when power will be fully restored; crews are still determining what type of equipment they’ll need.
