Two men aboard a Peugeot 3008 vehicle figured in a "self-accident" on the northbound lane of EDSA near SM Megamall in Mandaluyong Tuesday after hitting a concrete barrier, according to the Metro Manila Development Authority.

One of the two men aboard was identified as Wesley Cua, a 19-year-old resident of Binondo, Manila, the MMDA Rescue Group told GMA News Online.

The two tested positive for alcohol, the MMDA said.

The two men were then taken to The Medical City.

A car on the opposite lane was hit by flying debris.

"I was reading the news on my phone when all of a sudden I heard a big bang and saw debris flying to my direction and hitting my car," said Sam Ortiz, who parked his car on the emergency bay of the southbound lane.

The Peugeot vehicle, with plate number AKA 7053, sustained heavy damage, Ortiz said.
