A SEVEN-hour stand-off has left one man in hospital after armed police swarmed a home amid reports a man took a woman and child hostage.
Terrified witnesses claimed the man has threatened to cover himself in petrol and set himself alight in Glasgow.
Other onlookers have claimed a man was seen brandishing a knife in the middle of the street before the incident began.
Locals were ordered to stay indoors as the man reportedly threatened to cover himself in petrol and light a match.
A heavy police presence surrounded the home in Old Shettleston Road, Glasgow at around 4.30pm.
But at 11.30pm the man left the flat and was taken to hospital – where Police Scotland said he would be assessed.
A police statement said: "Around 4.35pm on April 14, police received report of a disturbance at a flat on Old Shettleston Road in Glasgow.
"Upon arrival a man refused them entry to the flat and was threatening to self harm.
"Emergency services were in attendance and police negotiators were speaking to the man who was alone in the property.
"No one was injured.
"At 11.30pm the same day the man came out of the flat and was taken to hospital for assessment."
