A record 18million people are expected to watch the men’s final on BBC One this afternoon.

It is the highlight of so-called Super Sunday, which will also see Lewis Hamilton compete to win the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and France take on Portugal in tonight’s Euro 2016 final.

The last 600 face-value £175 seats for Murray’s final on Centre Court sold out in just 30 seconds yesterday, with a pair being bought online for £52,000 shortly afterwards.

Murray fans started queuing on Wednesday morning for passes to sit on Murray Mount and watch the 29-year-old British number one takes on Canadian Milos Raonic, 25.

If he becomes the first Briton since Fred Perry to win two Wimbledon titles, he is hotly tipped to receive a knighthood from the Queen.
