Nomination sells well for injured jockey Tylicki

A NOMINATION to Melbourne Cup hero Protectionist being sold by German bloodstock auctioneers BBAG has added a significant sum to funds being raised for injured jockey Freddy Tylicki.

The highest bid of €6,200 was made by Stall Alemannia, whose mare Nur Bani, the dam of German Derby third Nordvulkan, will visit Protectionist next year.

Protectionist has been retired to stand at Gestüt Röttgen in Germany, where his initial fee has been set at €6,500.

Ronald Rauscher, agent for Australian Bloodstock, who donated the nomination, said: "Many thanks to all who have spent their time for free and helped to bring the sale to such a satisfying result.

"We wish Freddy and his family all the best in these hard times."

Tylicki, who was injured in a four-horse pile-up at Kempton last month, has already received more than £275,000 in donations through a GoFundMe page set up by AtTheRaces presenter Matt Chapman.
