Professional golfer Tiger Woods was treated and released after being injured in a car accident early this morning, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn told CNN that local police arrived within two minutes of being notified. The golfer was taken to Health Central Hospital, where he was treated for facial lacerations and released, Bruhn said.

Initial reports, based on information from the Florida Highway Patrol, had Woods seriously injured in the crash, but FHP spokesman Jorge Delahoz told the Sentinel that patients' conditions are always classified as "serious" if they are transported to a hospital.

The highway patrol said the crash is still under investigation, and charges are pending, but the crash was not alcohol-related, the Associated Press reported.

Woods, 33, has won 14 major golf tournaments in his career, second only to Jack Nicklaus' 18.

According to the FHP report, Woods pulled out of his driveway in the Isleworth community near Orlando about 2:25 a.m. and struck a fire hydrant, and then drove into a tree at his neighbor's property.

Orange County Fire Rescue received the call for aid at 2:28 a.m.
