George Michael’s manager claims singer died ‘from heart failure’

The Careless Whisper singer passed away on Christmas Day just before 2pm at his home in Goring-on-Thames in Oxfordshire.

Thames Valley Police said in a statement that ‘the death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious’.

Michael Lippman, his longtime manager, said in an interview with Billboard that he believed the cause of death was heart failure.

He revealed he had received a phone call telling him the star had been found ‘in bed, lying peacefully’.

The official cause of death will not be established until an autopsy takes place.
Michael’s publicist confirmed that the singer died last night.

He said: ‘It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.
