A shooting has taken place outside a primary school in Glasgow as children were being dropped off.

Police confirmed the gun was fired as the morning bell rang at St George’s RC Primary and are now investigating the incident.

Pictures from Twitter show a police helicopter circling overhead while Police Scotland said extensive enquiries are ongoing with additional police patrols in the area.
There are no reports of injuries but police said the children are in no danger.
A spokesman said: ‘It has been reported that the incident occurred outside a primary school in Muirdyke Rd, Penilee.

‘Police officers are currently at the school and there is no threat to any of the children or staff within the school.’

Glasgow City Council also confirmed that children and staff were unharmed in the incident.

A spokesperson said the school was now helping police with their investigation.
Some parents were seen outside the school attempting to pick their children up.
There are claims on Twitter that someone was injured in the incident, however there is no official confirmation from the Scottish Ambulance Service, who have been approached for comment.
