A man has shot and wounded a security guard at the headquarters of the US Census Bureau just outside of Washington DC after kidnapping a woman. This is reported by Coruption.Info.
 
The gunman fled the scene by car and was chased by police through Washington. Officers eventually shot the suspect after exchanging gunfire.
 
An officer was shot during the chase, which ended about one mile (1.6km) from the US Capitol, police said.
 
The FBI investigated, but said the incident was not related to terrorism.
 
The woman, who exited the car somewhere between the Census Bureau office in Maryland and central Washington, was later found safe.
