This was stated by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Eric Rubin in Washington, addressing reporters, Corruption.info reports citing Censor.NET.
He noted that If Russia chooses a path of escalation and returns to large-scale fighting, there will be very serious consequences, as was repeatedly stated by President Obama, Secretary of State Kerry, and Vice President Biden. They have made it clear that U.S. and its allies and partners were ready to take quick steps, if that happens, he said adding that this position is firm and the U.S. was ready to give a powerful response to Russia.
Rubin also said such a development would be a mistake. The right way is to implement the Minsk Agreement, to take care of the humanitarian situation, ease the suffering of several million people who have lost their homes, the representative of the State Department said.
At the same time, he stated that the United States had stepped up its support of Ukraine during the last month, firstly in terms of diplomacy, firm stance on Russia's need to fulfill the Minsk Agreement and respect Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He also noted that he was talking about efforts to restore international borders, the problem of refugees and internally displaced persons, as well as providing the possibility for Ukraine to move forward.
Eric Rubin also stressed that the U.S. was very pleased to sign an agreement to provide a further $1 billion in the form of loan guarantees this week, expressing belief that more should be done and will be done.Source:http://en.censor.net.ua/n337079
