The investigative team, explosives experts, and other agencies are currently working at the scene.
The police call-center received a message from an unknown person July 20 at about 12.00 p.m. that several cellars in one of the apartment houses on Shevchenko Street in Lviv were pry opened. The investigative team, forensic experts and representatives of other services have left for the scene.
"The police officers have discovered the door without a lock in the basement and when they tried to open it they heard a loud bang. Having opened the door a crack, the law enforcement officers saw a tripwire in the room. The explosives experts, investigative team and officers of other agencies have immediately left for the scene," — Deputy Head of Lviv city police major Oleksandr Kosteniuk said.
40 residents were evacuated from the building. The bomb experts have defused the tripwire trap. The law enforcement officers found ammunition during the inspection of the premises of the basement, in particular, a mine and ammunition of various calibers as well as an object resembling a grenade, which have been sent for examination.
"According to preliminary data, the tripwire was attached to the simulated F-1 grenade. The investigation is currently underway and the issue of opening criminal proceedings is being decided upon," Oleksandr Kosteniuk said.
