Human torch: Surfer catches a wave while on fire (VIDEO)

Professional surfer Jamie O’Brien lit himself up while riding the waves on Wednesday – setting himself ablaze before fearlessly standing up to one of world's heaviest tides.

On Wednesday, the Hawaiian master surfer made one of his most daring dreams come to fruition – he got barreled on a massive wave while being on fire … because apparently simply surfing on dangerous reef breaks was not that exciting for him anymore.

“I got a direct message on Instagram that said it would be cool if you lit yourself on fire, and I kinda thought, why not?” O’Brien said in his interview to Red Bull.

The preparation for this trick took about 12 months during which O’Brien, guided by Hollywood stunt coordinator Riley Harper, tirelessly worked to ensure success.

The long training paid off, resulting in a spectacular video clip for O'Brien's Red Bull-produced YouTube series “Who is JOB 5.0” about extreme aquatic sports.

“I caught the best wave of my life today. It was a dream wave, and I was on fire. It was the biggest adrenaline rush of my life. Everything went super smooth!” said O’Brien after the fire had been put out.
