The self-proclaimed authorities of the Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic terrorist organizations in eastern Ukraine have announced that they are going to release more than 2,000 convicts, who are serving their sentences in the militant-occupied territory, as the "authorities" are not able to provide them with food, Chairman of Luhansk Regional Military and Civil Administration Heorhiy Tuka wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

"Prisoners are not keen to participate in hostilities. However, the border guards detain such people when then attempt to enter the territory of Ukraine. After that, the most incredible things are revealed: they have got no documents, cannot [provide any proof related to] criminal cases and court rulings on imprisonment," he said.

According to Tuka, criminal cases of such people are not transferred to the Ukrainian side.

As UNIAN reported earlier, newly appointed Chairman of Luhansk Regional Military and Civil Administration Heorhiy Tuka believes that it is not worth holding local elections in Luhansk region on October 25, 2015.
