A provocative shelling of the village of Shyrokyne took place on the day of withdrawal of artillery systems from the demarcation line, Ukrainian Presidential Adviser Yuriy Biryukov said on Friday, Mariupol's city portal 0629 reported.
"At about 12:00 on October 29, the illegal armed groups started firing 82mm mortars, grenade launchers and small arms. The shelling was of an average density, military say. It was provocative and did not reach the Ukrainian army positions," Biriukov said.
There were no casualties. The Ukrainian security forces did not receive order to fire back.
According to Biriukov, the withdrawal of weapons with caliber under 100mm was completed on Thursday. As of now, the OSCE mission continues to verify the lists and the number of the withdrawn military equipment. The same process is carried out in the militant-occupied territory.
"The military are preparing to pull back mortars with caliber under 82mm, but the date of withdrawal will be announced after the agreement with the opposite party to the conflict to ensure synchronous implementation," the report says.
