Russian-backed militants in Donbas continued shelling Ukrainian troops on Wednesday with the use of banned, large-caliber weapons, according to the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO).
"As was the case before, the terrorists have focused fire on areas near the city of Donetsk in the ATO zone today," the press center wrote on Facebook on Wednesday evening.
In particular, they used grenade launchers, heavy guns and small arms to shell the villages of Pisky (close to the ruined Donetsk airport), Novhorodske, Opytne, Verkhniotoretske, and the towns of Maryinka and Krasnohorivka.
"In total, there have been 23 attacks, including two with the use of heavy machine guns and small arms fired at the village of Luhanske in the direction of Artemivsk," the ATO Headquarters said.
