After the liberation of German-occupied territories of European countries, thousands of women who are in relationships with German soldiers and officers were subject to humiliating and brutal executions of their fellow citizens.
Especially popular such breaches were the French. After years of occupation, many vented their anger on these girls.
The campaign to identify and reprisals against collaborators, known as «L'épuration sauvage», about 30 thousand women, suspected of having links with the Germans were subjected to public humiliation.
