You have to see this Italian village — it’s absolutely amazing!

On the bank of the Martorana mountain river in Italy, there’s a wonderful town that’s as beautiful and unusual as its name suggests — Sant’Agata de ‘Goti. This historical city looks quite simply, magnificent. Walking around, you might feel like you’re walking through a movie set — yet it’s actually a real place.

We here at Bright Side are convinced that you will enjoy the stunning photos of this wonderful Italian town and will want to get lost there as much as we do!

Small Sant’Agata de ‘Goti is located in the Campania region between Naples and Benevento, in Italy.

The first part of the name of the municipality, Sant’Agata, appeared in the VI century, but there is still debate about the origin of the second part. According to one version, the name «de Goti» emerged after the Goths built the fortress. Another version associates it with the French family, De Goth. Robert the Wise of the Anjou dynasty, a king of Naples, gave the land to this family.

Talking about Sant’Agata de ‘Goti, we should mention the huge hill. Due to its specific appearance, some researchers thought it was the ruins of an ancient pyramid. They were even going to start archeological excavations there.

But this picture, taken from a satellite, shows that the mountain has nothing in common with a pyramid.

At night, the city looks fabulous and mysterious.

The streets of Sant’Agata de ‘Goti are narrow. The spirit of the leisurely small provincial town is engrained in everything
