The phase of the 2016 race when candidates tap their children to win votes has begun.
Chelsea Clinton has been out campaigning for her mother in Iowa, and now a new radio spot features Ivanka Trump.
"When I was a young girl, my father, Donald Trump, always told me that I could do anything that I set my mind to if I coupled vision with determination and hard work. He meant it," she says in the ad. "I consider myself fortunate to have learned from the best, both as an entrepreneur and most importantly, a parent."
The 60-second spot, which will air in Iowa and New Hampshire, is not what one would call typical campaign fare, befitting the atypical nature of Campaign Trump. Rather than reflecting on warm family moments, Ivanka Trump talks about her father's business acumen.
"He taught us that to inspire and gain respect in life and in business, you have to earn it. He has done just that over decades and achieved success at the highest level across multiple industries," she says. "He has employed tens of thousands of people and inspired them to achieve great things. Countless times I've watched my dad make deals that seemed impossible to get done."
Ivanka Trump is a vice president in her father's real estate company and has her own lines of clothing, jewelry, shoes and more. Donald Trump heralded her success in a statement Monday.
"She is a terrific person, a devoted mother and an exceptional entrepreneur," he said. "Ivanka is doing a fantastic job running my company, alongside her brothers, and is building many of my biggest jobs. It is so important to have the support of all of my children and I’m really proud of this ad.”
