Anomalous zones of Russia
The most famous:
1. The Devil's Cemetery
As some SCPs are based off of (Or I assume they are based off of) real unexplained events (As in SCP-076 having a connection to the Vela Incident, or SCP-2516 being based off of, well as it says The Man from Taured) and I'm wondering if there are any SCPs based off of the Devil's Cemetery, a meadow near the town of Kova in the Krasnoyarsk region of Russia. Many people that have looked for it have died (75 people dying between 1980 and 1990) and those who did find it report that electronics and compasses malfunctioned. This is also accompanied by feelings of sickness and anxiety, and also the death of thousands of cattle and other animals.
If no one has made an SCP based or influenced by this, I would like to make it, though I want to know if it is a good concept for one
2. "Mountain of the Dead" (Sverdlovsk region)
One of the most bizarre, not to mention flat out terrifying, mysteries of the modern age concerns the enigmatic deaths of nine Russian mountaineers whose cross-country skiing trip ended in a tragedy so ghastly and perplexing that it has mystified experts for over half a century.
Excursions into nature can be serene for some and exhilarating for others, but for an unfortunate few these sojourns into the untouched wilds of our world can be tragic. Still other such journeys into the unknown end in such unfathomably frightening circumstances that they become the stuff of legend. Such is the destiny that befell nine ill-fated skiing enthusiasts in the late 1950s.
Unlike so many of the most intriguing mysteries of the 20th Century — including the fate of the crew of the Ourang Medan or the whereabouts of the missing Anjikuni Villagers of Canada — What makes the so-called “Dyatlov Pass Incident” so fascinating is the fact that there is absolutely no doubt that these events actually occurred… and dreadfully little doubt that one of the last sensations experienced by these poor souls was one of abject terror.
3. "Devil's Lair" (Volgograd region)
“Fiery ” death traps people in anomalous zones where disturbed the usual course of time.
There is in Russia on the border of the Saratov and Volgograd regions ( near the town of Zhirnovskaya ) strange place , local residents nicknamed ” Devil’s lair .” On it goes a lot of legends. And a mysterious incident that happened there in October 1990, only added notoriety of this anomalous zone . Two shepherd happened to be on a hillside , which local belief should get round. When you feel tired , they decided to relax a bit . One sat on a stone , and the other moved to calm a bit frightened animals. Five minutes passed . Nothing but the bleating of sheep did not disturb the silence. Returning from a flock , the shepherd instead of his friend just found his charred corpse …
4. "Death Valley."
In northwestern Yakutia in Siberia, in the basin of the Upper Viliuy River, there is a hard-to-reach area that bears the marks of a tremendous cataclysm that took place some 800 years ago, which toppled the entire forest cover and scattered stone fragments over hundreds of square kilometers.
Distributed across this area are mysterious metal objects located deep underground in the permafrost. On the surface, their presence is revealed only by patches of weird vegetation. The ancient name of this area is Uliuiu Cherkechekh, which translates as "the Valley of Death".
For many years the Yakut people have given a very wide berth to this remote area that has played and still plays a special, powerful role in the fate not only of civilization but of the planet as a whole.
After having systematized a large quantity of reports and material of various kinds, we decided to inform you of something that may change perceptions of the world around us and our place in it, if humanity can take heed of what is stated here.
In order to provide the fullest possible picture, we have divided our account into three sections. The first contains the facts and eyewitness reports in the form in which they reached us. The second presents the ancient legends of peoples living in this region and the epic poetry of neighboring peoples who observed strange phenomena. This is important so that you can carry out your own investigation and appreciate for yourselves every detail of the narrative.
5. "Meat Bor" (Novgorod region)
Meat Bor — as if on someone's irony, was named a small town in the Novgorod region, which fate has prepared a terrible role — to become bloody meat grinder, peremolovshey in 1942 during Operation Luban many tens of thousands of lives and destinies of Soviet soldiers 2 th Shock Army of the Volkhov Front.
Winter 42nd 2nd Shock Army attempted to break through to the besieged Leningrad. The Germans pulled powerful army reinforcements and sank into the boiler. Narrow passage through which theoretically could get out of the environment, shooting through. Later it was called "Valley of Death". Environment of the army went out until July — six months. Six months without food, ammunition and medical supplies. Army Commander General Vlasov surrendered.
