You won’t believe how OLD these triplets are…

Millennium babies Savannah, Alicia and India were born on February 29, 2000 meaning their big day only officially arrives every four years.

In fact, a quirk of the calendar means they have been “cheated” out of 12 birthdays.

Most of them have been marked on February 28 or March 1, but today is cause for a double celebration – It’s a leap year and the trio turn 16.

The girls, from Wolverhampton, were born five weeks early.

India weighed 4lbs 1oz, Savannah 3lb 13oz and Alicia 3lb 10oz.

Mum Jane Phillips-Bullock, 50, said: “Turning 16 is quite a milestone, although it will really only be their fourth birthday.

“Children can never wait for anything so we have always celebrated on February 28, although technically it should be March 1.

“When they are 18 they won’t have a proper birthday because it won’t be a leap year, so we will make sure this one is extra special.

“I will probably feel a little sad because they are no longer my babies. They were born at 35 weeks but have blossomed into three beautiful young ladies.”

India said: “It’s nice having a birthday on February 29 and sharing it with my two sisters. I consider it completely normal.”

Alicia said: “Some people don’t really understand how we have only had four real birthdays, but this will feel extra special because it’s a real birthday.

“I’m excited because this time we get to celebrate for real.”

All three girls are studying for their GCSEs but two hope to follow in the footsteps of their dancer parents.

India is a former UK ballroom champion, while Alicia is a former British Latin champion.

Both attend Ounsdale High School in Wombourne, Staffordshire, and have their hearts set on becoming professionals on Strictly Come Dancing.

Savannah is a talented guitar and drum player at Queen Mary’s High School in Walsall, West Midlands.

She said: “The one thing that differentiates me from my sisters is that I don’t want to dance – for me it’s anything but dancing.”

Jane married former ballroom dancing professional Warren Bullock, 51, in 1985 and they now run Zig Zag Dance Factory in the Midlands.
