Donald Trump turns up the heat ahead of tight Wisconsin race

Donald Trump is making a major push for Wisconsin’s 42 crucial delegates — including a radio-ad blitz and six appearances in the next three days.

With the primary coming Tuesday, the Republican front-runner will hold three rallies on Saturday alone, hopscotching from Racine to Wausau to Eau Claire.

“If I’m president, your taxes are going to go way down,” he promises in a radio ad airing throughout the swing state Friday.

Trump is even hauling out Sarah Palin, who wrote on Facebook Friday morning that she touched down in the state.

“As president, he’ll bring manufacturing jobs back home,” the former vice presidential candidate wrote. “His interests are OUR interests, and his trade policies will finally put America first.”

Polls are conflicting on Trump’s prospects. A Fox Business poll gives Ted Cruz the edge, 42 to 32 percent. But a Public Policy Polling survey shows a virtual dead heat, with Cruz at 38 percent and Trump at 37.

A Cruz win would make it far harder for Trump to reach the 1,237 delegates needed to secure the nomination on the first round at the Republican presidential convention in July.
