FIREFIGHTERS are battling a blaze that has ripped through a north London bakery.

A crew of more than 70 firefighters were sent to the single-storey industrial unit in Tottenham which is “100 per cent alight”.

The front of the building has partially collapsed, but no-one is believed to be injured, according to a London Fire Brigade spokeswoman.

London Fire Brigade said it was called to the site at around 6.20pm.

Ten engines and 72 firefighters and officers are at the scene.

Images posted on social media show huge clouds of smoke billowing above the surrounding area.

Firefighters are still tackling the blaze, on West Mews, using jets to protect a 2,000-litre diesel tank and prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring factory units.

Four people from a nearby building who were unaccounted for were located by the fire brigade.

They did not require treatment after being assessed by London Ambulance Service.

Station manager Charles Hanks said: "Crews were confronted with a large fire when they arrived and are now working hard to confine it to the bakery and stop it from spreading to any neighbouring factory units.

"There is some fuel stored on site but crews have isolated the supply and it is not involved in the fire."

He added: "The fire is producing a lot of smoke so we are advising residents to keep their doors and windows closed as a precaution while it is going on. Thankfully though no injuries have been reported."
