Cologne sex attacks cover-up? Government and police ‘knew about migrant sexual assaults’

GERMAN police and state government knew about the "full scale" of the horrific Cologne sex attacks, leaked documents sensationally claim.

One of the documents sent to the North-Rhine Westphalia interior minister Frank Jäger reportedly states there had been “rape, sexual offences, thefts, robberies committed by larger foreign group”.

It allegedly claims that a “40 to 50-strong group of people” had been acting in the “downtown area” by the railway station “to the detriment of young women”.

It is also claimed that an "internal police memo" was sent by the German ministry to police ordering them "cancel" the use of the word "rape" in their reports of the shocking incident, according to local news.

And a spokesperson for Mr Jäger confirmed that "coordinated meetings" had taken place between police and the ministry, according to local media.

Critics have already slammed Mr Jäger for firing the chief of police in Cologne after revelations that police were "understaffed" on New Years Eve.

It was revealed last month that the there were just 80 police officers on duty that night.

But the interior minister sacked police boss Wolfgang Albers in order to "restore faith" in the city.

There were more than 350 complaints of sexual attacks on New Year's Eve in Cologne.

The damning police reports described the perpetrators as predominantly "North African".

And now the German government has announced that they have pledged a staggering £160million to combat sex attacks in refugee camps.
