Mysterious ‘planet nine’ that once destroyed Earth could do it again THIS MONTH

Comet-658894

A TOP space scientist has claimed that a mysterious plant that wiped out Earth millions of years ago could do it again this month.

Planet Nine, a new "super planet", was discovered on the edge of the solar system in January and could trigger comet showers that will destroy life on earth — according to Daniel Whitmire of the University of Louisiana.

The former astrophysics professor claims the icey planet will knock space rocks towards Earth as it's 20,000 year orbit around the Sun sees it go through the Kuiper belt, a band of asteroids and comets just beyond Pluto.

Fossil evidence has suggested life on Earth is mysteriously wiped out every 26 to 27 million years.

In the eighties and nineties, scientists suggested the extinctions could be down to a small red dwarf star or bran dwarf planet — known as Nemesis or Death Star — that was passing through the Solar System.

But the theory was later dismissed.

Now Professor Whitmore says he believes Planet Nine could be the cause of these "extinction events".

Doomsdayers are now convinced there will be a collision or a near miss before the end of April.

An asteroid would kill a significant amount of life on Earth and a dust cloud caused by the impact would block out the Sun – sparking killer climate change.
