After audiences finally got to see "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the question on everybody's mind was, "Who are Rey's parents?"

Director J.J. Abrams isn't telling — but he did give fans a big hint today at a Tribeca Film Festival event.

During the Q&A portion of Abrams' Directors Series discussion with Chris Rock, Abrams said that the character's mother and father were not featured in "The Force Awakens."

"So I can't possibly in this moment tell you who they are," he continued. "This is all I will say: It's something that Rey thinks about too."

In "The Force Awakens," audiences were introduced to Daisy Ridley's Rey, a headstrong woman who has been waiting all her life to reunite with her mother and father. Guesses as to their identities cropped up online almost immediately, and ranged from Obi-Wan Kenobi to Luke Skywalker to Han Solo and Leia.

Perhaps the answer will be revealed in "Episode VIII," which is already in production.

"Me and Mark [Hamill, who plays Luke] have been rehearsing a lot, and it’s really amazing,” Ridley told MTV News earlier this year. “When we went back to Skellig to do the opening of [Episode] VIII, it was so crazy doing the same scene with a different crew of people. He’s amazing to rehearse with, and I’m very excited to be doing the rest of the stuff.”
