A FATHER of two denied having sex with an underage girl, saying to police: "I'm not like that."
Craig Oldfield denied forcing a girl to take part in sexual activity while she was "frozen to the spot with fear".
He said to police: "Why would I? I'm 21. I'm working. I've got a partner who's pregnant. I've got kids. I would never ever force myself on anyone."
The young father is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl at his home then pleading with her not to tell the police.
He claims that the girl is lying and denies there was ever any sexual activity with her.
A Teesside Crown Court jury yesterday heard of Oldfield's interviews with police last year.
He denied asking the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, to do anything sexual or send him pictures of herself.
He denied inviting her to his home, taking her upstairs, forcing her to take part in a sex act or having sex with her.
I was quite shocked, wondering what she was on about
Accused Craig Oldfield
A detective asked him: "Why would she be saying this?"
Oldfield, now 23, replied: "That's what I'd like to know. I've never done anything like that. I wouldn't. I'm not daft."
He said she had never been in his bedroom, adding: "I wouldn't let anyone in my house unless there was someone else there."
He also denied forcing the girl to take part in sexual activity in a field, saying he was "at work constantly" or at home with his partner at that time.
Asked about communications with the girl, he said he had heard people talking about him and asked her what they were saying.
He said she sent him a message saying: "I'm going to tell them everything. I'm going to tell them about you having sex with me."
He said he replied "I haven't" and: "Don't you dare. What are you trying to do, kill me?"
He told police: "I was quite shocked, wondering what she was on about.
"I didn't know what to do."
He denied sending the girl Facebook messages, including those seemingly sent from his home, and denied knowledge of an email account used.
He said his Facebook account had been "hacked" before.
He denied sending a picture of his bedroom to the girl and could not suggest who did.
Oldfield who has no convictions, denies two counts of sexual activity with a child, two of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and one of causing child sex exploitation.
The trial continues.
