A field of 80 ladies will be at Vet Lab Sports Club for the annual Kabete Ladies Open tournament.
The par 73 Nakuru Golf Club course in Central Rift region will host the fifth leg of the CIC Group sponsored events this weekend. A field of 106 players were drawn to tackle the hilly course on the slopes of Menengai hills.
More players may, however, join the list through post entries. The entrants include veterans Njuguna Njoka, Samuel Njoroge, J.K. Ruttoh and Njoro’s Charles Angwenyi.
This is the fifth year CIC Group is sponsoring the golf series in a bid to develop interest in the sport.
Other tournaments are scheduled to be held at the Coast, Nyanza and Trans Nzoia regions before the end of the year.
Meanwhile, a field of 80 ladies will be at Vet Lab Sports Club for the annual Kabete Ladies Open tournament sponsored by Occidental Insurance company.
Former ladies amateur champion and currently the lady captain at Vet Lab Mary Karano said the course, having hosted the Kabete Open last weekend, is still in great shape.
“We are hoping to see very good scores from the ladies as well as the men in the subsidiary event to be played in the afternoon,” said Karano, who will lead the field which includes Golf Park’s Sarah Khanyereri, Eldoret’s Esther Chumo, and Kiambu’s Joyce Wanjiru as well as Wanjiru Karume.
A field of 150 players will be at Muthaiga Golf Club on Friday for the Sh2 million Kenya Power tournament hosted in partnership with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers.
