‘Angelina Jolie of Kurdistan’ dies fighting Isis in Syria

A woman who was fighting Isis who bears remarkable similarities to Angelina Jolie has been killed in Syria, it has been reported.

Asia Ramazan Antar, 22, is believed to have been killed in fighting in northern Syria.

She was part of the all-female Women’s Protection Units which is based near the border with Turkey and which she had been a member of since 2014.

Her death was announced on the ‘We want Freedom For Kurdistan’ Facebook page which announced that she was ‘martyred in a battle against Daesh’.

Antar’s death has not been independently verified.

The group she was fighting with has 50,000 fighters and 10,000 of them are believed to be women.
They have been a key group on the Turkish border which was recently declared cleared of Isis members.
