Following the disastrous exploding lithium-ion battery issues which have hit the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung is rumoured to have accelerated work on its next flagship phone, the Galaxy S8.

Samsung is expected to make a number of changes to the Galaxy S8.

First of all, the flagship smartphone is rumoured to take a cue from the Note 7 and eschew the standard flat panel in favour of dual-curved displays across every model.

For the last two years, Samsung has released a separate Edge variation of its flagship Galaxy S smartphone, which costs more and boasts the stunning dual-curved display.

A new report from the Korea Herald, a publication with reliable sources inside Samsung, claims the firm is now purposely designing its next-generation device with a curved screen only.

The Galaxy S8 is expected to launch in two models, one with a 5.1inch dual-curved display, the other with 5.5inches – the same screen sizes as the Galaxy S7s.

These two models are codenamed Dream and Dream2 inside Samsung, sources have revealed.

The South Korean technology firm is expected to debut a dramatic redesign alongside the two new smartphones.

It will have been a full two years since the Samsung flagship underwent a facelift, with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge being more of a subtle refinement of the design debuted with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

And with Apple rumoured to be planning a radical new look for its tenth anniversary iPhone in 2017, it make senses that Samsung wants to unveil something spectacular.
