Man kicks woman in the face for wearing shorts on bus

A man has been charged with kicking a young woman in the face on a bus in Istanbul because she was wearing shorts.

The attacker was also heard shouting: ‘Those wearing shorts must die!’ as he kicked the nurse, local media report.
Police detained the suspect on Saturday in Uskudar, a district on the Asian side of the city.

He later told police he had been angered by the woman’s clothing.
‘The shorts she was wearing were not appropriate. That’s why I was angry and behaved so,’ he was quoted as saying by Doğan News Agency.

The man, who works in security, had previously been diagnosed with ‘manic depression’, the agency said.

Earlier this month, two teenagers were jailed in southern France after three men were violently beaten because their wives were wearing shorts.
