Sam Allardyce set to receive £1 million payoff after England sacking

Sam Allardyce is set to receive a payoff in the region of £1 million following his England sacking, according to reports.

The Times claim that the 61-year-old, who lasted just 67 days as Three Lions boss before his departure on Tuesday evening, will be paid a ‘seven-figure settlement’ following his departure.

Allardyce was appointed on a two-year deal worth £6 million but was removed from his role by the Football Association after details of his secret meetings with an undercover reporter for The Daily Telegraph emerged earlier this week.

The former West Ham manager was caught negotiating a £400,000 deal and advised businessmen how to get around FA rules about third-party ownership of players.

England manager Sam Allardyce arrives for a training session at St George's Park near Burton-Upon-Trent in Central England on September 3, 2016 ahead of their World Cup 2018 qualifier football match against Slovakia.  England face Slovakia in a World Cup qualifier in Trnava on September 4.

Allardyce is set to receive £1m after getting sacked on Tuesday evening.

‘Obviously I have to do this before I go away. On reflection it was a silly thing to do,’ Allardyce told reporters on Wednesday.

‘I was trying to help someone out I knew for 30 years and unfortunately it was an error in judgement on my behalf.
‘Entrapment has won on this occasion.’
