What a hero…

Mairead Burke played for Camross in the Laois Senior Camogie Final at the weekend as they took on O'Moore's in a bid to win five-in-a-row.

About five minutes into the game, Mairead received a bad rattle on the arm as she gained possession of the ball but miraculously she didn't receive a free, in fact her brother Martin informs us that she was unfairly penalised for charging.

We weren't at the game but we love a good rant at the ref so we're going to call it a bullshit decision…

At this point Mairead's arm was quite painful, but she received some medical attention in the form of two panadol, some strapping and a good wipe of the magic sponge, then she got back to her feet and continued the match.

Unfortunately, Mairead's heroics were not enough to inspire Camross to a historic five-in-a-row in the Laois Senior Camogie Championship as they lost out by three points.

A trip to the A&E after the game revealed that she'd broken her arm during that early collision in the game and proceeded to play 50 plus minutes of the game while severely injured.

That's some serious toughness…
