A transgender prisoner said she ‘doesn’t feel safe around men’ after she was slashed across the face by another inmate in a ‘transphobic’ attack, a court heard.
Marcia Walker, who is living as a woman in a male prison, suffered a 9cm long cut from a ‘sharp implement’ during the attack at Long Lartin Prison in Worcestershire.

Fellow inmate, Paul Tudor, 47, had subjected her to ‘a number of transphobic comments’, before returning with a sharp weapon and attacking her in the library, in December 2015.
In a victim impact statement, read out to the court, Walker said: ‘This incident has left me traumatised and distressed.
‘I do not feel safe around men.’

Tudor was identified as the attacker on CCTV but said ‘no comment’ when interviewed by police.
Local TV imagers at the scene after two police officers, had a car deliberately driven at them. Police are treating an attack on two officers, who were seriously injured after a car was deliberately driven at them in Glasgow, as attempted murder. The male and female officer tried to speak to people in a car in Banner Drive, Knightswood, at 23:15 on Sunday.

Amiee Parkes, defending, said Tudor didn’t attack Walker because of her gender and that it was for ‘other reasons’.On Thursday, he pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Worcester Crown Court.
He was ordered to serve another 26 months behind bars.
