Dana White knows why Ronda Rousey is ready to quit

Ronda Rousey shocked the world earlier this week when she announced her upcoming fight with Amanda Nunes would be one of her last.

Now, UFC president Dana White has added a little bit more context to Rousey’s stunning announcement.

“Ronda Rousey has made a lot of money. She accomplished what she set out to do,” White told TMZ. “And she loves acting, she’s good at it, and if she dedicates herself to it, she’ll be even better at it.

“I think when [Rousey] says she’s done, she’s done, because at the end of the day she stopped doing judo, she moved on to mixed martial arts, and I think when she’s done with that, she’ll move on to acting.”

White’s words, combined with Rousey’s interview on “Ellen,” paint the picture of an athlete who is no longer fully committed to her craft.

“This is definitely one of my last fights,” Rousey told DeGeneres, cryptically. “Everybody better watch because the show isn’t going to last forever.”

Rousey went on to tell DeGeneres about how much she hates the pressure that builds up before a big fight like her upcoming bout with Nunes at UFC 207 on Dec. 30.

The Nunes fight will be Rousey’s first since she lost to Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November 2015. After the loss, Rousey went into a media blackout, recovered from a number of small injuries, and focused on her acting career.

On the back of performances in 2014’s “Expendables 3” and 2015’s “Furious 7” and “Entourage,” Rousey was cast in a remake of Patrick Swayze’s “Road House” as well as “Mile 22,” an action movie directed by longtime Mark Wahlberg collaborator Peter Berg.

However, production on “Mile 22” seems to have stalled after the studio had reservations about Rousey’s acting skills, according to the New Yorker, and filming on “Road House” has been pushed back indefinitely, according to Fox Sports.

With her acting career in limbo, Rousey is returning to the Octagon to fight Nunes, the latest in a string of women to hold the 135-pound bantamweight title since Rousey lost it to Holm a year ago.

If Rousey beats Nunes — which she is favored to do — she’ll bring order to the chaotic division while setting herself up for the biggest fight in women’s MMA history.

Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, the 145-pound Invicta FC featherweight champion, finally has made her way to the UFC, competing in special 140-pound fights because the UFC doesn’t have a featherweight division and she can’t make the cut to 135 pounds.

Justino has destroyed the two tomato cans she’s fought in the UFC and has done everything in her power outside the cage to make the Rousey fight happen.

The superfight every fight fan wants to see will become a reality, according to White, if Rousey beats Nunes and the two archrivals can agree on a weight.

“I’ve been saying it for years, Ronda wants to fight Cyborg … but Cyborg doesn’t want to go to 135,” White said. “I think to make this superfight that everybody wants to see we’ll have to agree on a weight.”
