A FUNDRAISING page set up for Freddy Tylicki by At The Races presenter Matt Chapman surged past its target of £20,000 with double that amount collected for the rider in just 12 hours.

Chapman, who has been at the Breeders' Cup in the US, said the generosity of the racing community and public had left him "literally in tears" as the fund soared beyond £125,000 with promises of more money to arrive in the coming days.

He said: "Everybody from Britain was in a state of shock at Santa Anita and I knew I wanted to do something. I kicked off the fund with my donation and when I went to bed there was about £300 as it was the middle of the night at home.

"To wake up and find there was £40,000 in there was amazing. I did a double take — and it's kept on going."

Luca Cumani, Richard Fahey, Andrea Atzeni, Neil Callan, Marco Botti, Bill Gredley and many other racing figures had donated to the fund as had Jim Crowley, the champion Flat jockey who was involved in the same pile-up as Tylicki at Kempton on Monday.

Tylicki was left with a T7 paralysis after his fall, meaning he has no movement in the lower part of his body.
