Linda McMahon, two-time Republican Senate candidate in Connecticut and former WWE CEO, is rumoured to be up for a post of the hugely vital Commerce Department.

McMahon, 68, and her husband Vince McMahon built WWE into a multi-billion dollar franchise.

Trump’s campaign finance reports indicate that the McMahon family lent $7 million (£5.5 million) to aid his election to the White House.

“Once you're his friend, he is loyal to the end”

Following Trump’s election victory McMahon tweeted: “What a night! Thrilled to congratulate my friend, President-elect Donald Trump on a hard-fought campaign and victory”.

She was also present in New York City at Trump HQ’s victory party.

It comes after McMahon attempted to distance herself from her massive donation to his campaign after Trump’s comments about women were made public.

McMahon said: “He’s not helping, certainly, to put women in the best light.

“Maybe he regret them, maybe he doesn’t. I realise he punches hard when he punches back, but that’s just over the top.”

McMahon later told Associated Press that she believed Trump was a “loyal” friend.

She said: ““Once you're his friend, he is loyal to the end.

“He's an incredibly loyal, loyal friend.”

McMahon has not confirmed if she is being offered to be part of Trump’s cabinet.

The wealthy business woman has only made a few appearances on-screen for the wrestling TV show.

She was most notably involved in a wrestling feud with her husband, climaxing at WrestleMania X-Seven in 2001.
