Thousands of commuters have been left stranded due to flash flooding in parts of the UK today.

Stations including London Waterloo, Paddington and Kings Cross have been affected by cancellations and delays this afternoon.

The "Lady of Justice", a 12 foot high, gold leaf statue is pictured on top of the dome of the Central Criminal Court, commonly referred to as The Old Bailey in central London on August 21, 2016.nOver the centuries the building has been periodically remodelled and rebuilt. The present building, though extensively rebuilt after being damaged by bombing in WWII, is that which was designed in the neo-Baroque style by Edward William Mountford and opened by King Edward VII in 1907.

Trains between Cardiff and London Paddington have been cancelled and diversions are in place on other routes as a result of the closure, a spokesman said.
There are also delays at Leeds, Manchester Victoria, Stalybridge and Sheffield due to the weather conditions.

The Environment Agency put more than 69 flood warnings in place across the Southwest, the Midlands, North East, North West, Wales and the East of England this evening.

A further 172 flood alerts have been issued across England and Wales.
