Pupils made to stand in rain for 20 minutes as punishment

Parents have hit out at a school where a teacher allegedly forced an entire class to stand outside in the rain for 20 minutes during Storm Angus.

Children as young as 11 returned home from Landau Forte Academy in Tamworth, Staffordshire, in soaking wet uniforms.

They told their parents it was because their teacher had made them stand outside because a couple of pupils misbehaved before a lesson.

One mother said: ‘The teacher was apparently late for class and found a few pupils messing around, so made the whole class stand out in the rain for 20 minutes.
‘My son arrived home absolutely soaking wet. I’m still fuming – what a ludicrous punishment – and to punish a whole class for the behaviour of a couple of pupils is just wrong.

Landau Forte Academy (QEMS), Tamworth. Angry parents have blasted a school after a teacher forced an entire class of children to stand outside in pouring rain for TWENTY minutes as a punishment. The member of staff is accused of forcing a group of 11-year-old students to endure the torrential conditions on Monday (22/11) as Storm Angus battered Britain.

Furious mums and dads complained to Landau Forte Academy, in Tamworth, Staffs., after their children came home in soaking wet uniforms. Year 7 children claimed their teacher had made them all stand in the downpour after only a couple of pupils misbehaved before a lesson.

‘There is nothing negative about the school, I’m all for discipline and I appreciate their discipline, but this was the wrong decision.’

Another parent added: ‘How on earth can they think this is a way to punish children in modern Britain? It sounds more like a Guantanamo style torture technique.

‘The children could easily have fallen ill, if these allegations are proven this teacher needs to be sacked on the spot and never work again.’
However, some backed the school.

Michael Doherty wrote on Facebook: ‘Kids these days are too soft. Can’t keep wrapping them up in cotton wool.

‘Punishment is nothing to moan about. Would be a different story if the teachers where dunking each child underwater.’
