UT discusses significance of Pope's present to Russian President
Ukraine Today talks with Borys Gudziak, Ukrainian Catholic University President about recent meeting between Pope Francis and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Pope Francis is fundamentally a man of peace, there should be no question about the fact that he is sanguine, he is aware, he knows exactly who started the war, who is funding it, where the army is coming from. The propaganda around the Russian aggression is not fooling anyone".
"Pope waited and the first word of welcome was precisely one word in German 'willkommen', without great smiles or particular chitchat".
"His (Putin's) nonchalant manner in arriving late… and I think the conversation (between Pope and Putin) behind the closed doors was a cold shower".
