Full Ukrainian control of Russian border would trigger collapse of militant ‘republics’

The Kremlin's opportunistic tactics to conquer and hold land in Ukraine has remained unchanged since Russian troops began their 2014 invasion, according to Euan MacDonald, the editor of the English-language newspaper The Kyiv Post, Ukraine Today reports.

The journalist argues that the worst-case but unlikely scenario, the current blockade of Crimea could prompt more Russian intervention through its proxy forces in Donbas, according to Ukraine Today.

MacDonald also gives his views on the role of volunteer battalions within regular army structures.

Interview recorded at The Tiger Conference 2015, organized by the Kyiv Post.
