U.S. Treasury: Ukraine to lose intl support if budget for 2016 fails

The failure of the budget process and the failure of the Verkhovna Rada to adopt the state budget for 2016 will undermine international confidence in Ukraine and support of our country, U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew said during the talks with Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko.
 

According to the press service of the government, the parties discussed the adoption of the budget during a telephone conversation.

"U.S. Treasury Secretary stressed the urgency of implementation by Ukraine of its commitments to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and drew attention to the risks of undermining international support if the Verkhovna Rada postpones this task for the next year," the press service of the Ukrainian government quoted Lew's words.
According to the press service, the head of the U.S. Treasury insists on the adoption of the financially sustainable budget in a short time, as it is crucial for maintaining economic stability and further assistance from the IMF and other partners.
