THIS is the dramatic moment Europe’s most wanted man, terror suspect Mohamed Abrini, is arrested.
Undercover police officers apprehended the 31-year-old Islamic State (ISIS) fighter, who is believed to have been the third suspect in the attack on Brussels airport in March, after a massive manhunt.
France and Belgium launched the extensive investigation after it became clear that the Brussels bombings at the airport and metro was linked to the Paris atrocities which killed 130 people in November 2015.
Belgian police yesterday confirmed that the ‘man in white’ had been arrested after the force released CCTV footage of the suspected terrorist at Zaventem Airport moments before the first bomb exploded.
Abrini is a childhood friend of Salah Abdeslam, who also escaped after the Paris killings but was captured in Belgium four days before the Brussels bombings after four months in hiding.
The arrest of the vile jihadi comes as Belgian police revealed they had tracked down one of the six men suspected of aiding the Brussels bombers through Facebook.
According to local media, Swedish terror suspect Osama Krayem was traced after he sent several messages to his brother on the social media site.
It is believed that the man, who has connection to the Swedish town Malmö reentered Europe as a refugee from Syria.
One friend of the arrested 23-tear-old jihadi, he “suddenly and unexpectedly” joined the death cult in early 2015.
The friend revealed: “Before he travelled he hung out with his friends from the mosque as usual. He prayed five times a day and no one suspected that we would move to Syria [to become a fighter].
“He was brainwashed here in Malmö , but we do not know by who.”
It is believed Krayem made his way to Leros in Greece by using false documents in September 2015, before he continued to Belgium in a vehicle hired by the Paris terrorist Abdeslam.
