The surprise release of the 12 track album has managed to slow down service on streaming site Tidal – the only place fans can hear LEMONADE – as fans scramble to listen to the followup to Beys’ 2013 self titled release.
LEMONADE opens with gospel toned ‘Pray You Catch Me’ and closes with ‘Formation’, which was performed by the pop megastar during her Superbowl halftime performance.
The track caused controversy at the time, as the 34-year-old was joined by an array of backing dancers on the field, who were seemingly dressed as members of armed rights group the Black Panthers.
The album features cameos from a host of big names, including James Blake, The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar.
Naturally the surprise drop cause a Twitter meltdown, with #LEMONADE jumping straight to the site’s top trending hashtag – with 600k more tweets than its closest contender.
Bey herself even came back after three years of Twitter silence to announce the album.
One fan said: “You can literally hear me sobbing in the background. Honestly her best work so far”
Another added: “I love how unapologetically political and powerful Beyoncé is. She is incredible.“
