Rebecca Gallantree narrowly missed out on a place in the Rio 2016 3m Springboard semi-final after finishing in 20th with an overall score off 296.65.

Gallantree opened her individual Olympic campaign with a Front 2.5 Somersaults 1 Twist piked and scored a solid 58.50.

The City of Leeds diver ended on a high, posting 63.00 – her highest score of the prelims – for her final Inward 2.5 Somersaults piked before a nervous wait to see if she had progressed through to the semi-final.
It was unfortunately not meant to be for Gallantree, who said the following to BBC Sport’s Nick Hope:

Earlier in the week, Gallantree lined up alongside her synchro partner, Alicia Blagg, for the 3m Synchro event. The Commonwealth gold medallists and European silver started the competition well, eventually finishing in sixth place overall with a total of 292.83 points.

Edinburgh Diving’s Grace Reid secured a place in the 3m Springboard semi-final after a consistent performance in her first Olympic prelim competition.

In similar style to Gallantree, Reid saved her best for last, scoring of 64.50 for her Front 2 ½ Somersaults 1 Twist piked to finish in 14thplace overall with a total score of 304.95.
