Man, 39, dies after bus full of Rangers fans crashes on the A76

A man has died after a coach full of Rangers fans crashed in Ayrshire.

Police Scotland confirmed that a 39-year-old man died as a result of the crash on the A76 at the Crossroads roundabout near Bowhouse Prison.

Medical staff previously said three people were taken to hospital in a serious condition following the collision at about 1.15pm.

It is believed the bus was carrying football fans to Rangers’ Scottish Premiership match against Partick Thistle at Ibrox when it overturned and ended up on a grass verge.

In total, 18 people were taken to hospital.

It ended up stuck on a grass verge 

A passenger said the coach ‘swerved’ at the roundabout and the bus landed on its side on a grass verge.

A total of 36 people, plus the driver, were on board at the time.

Emergency services remain at the scene and the road has been closed in both directions while crash scene investigators carry out inquiries.
