11 cows dead 15 missing after being hit by train full of Arsenal fans

At least 11 cows have died after they wandered onto railway tracks and were struck by a train.

The group of cattle were hit by a southbound Great Northern Rail service near Peterborough.

The incident has caused chaos for passengers, with all services passing through the area delayed or cancelled as a result of the crash.
One of the delayed services was carrying a group of Arsenal supporters to the club’s Premier League game at Burnley, with many football fans missing the game as a result of the crash.

On Twitter, Great Northern Rail said another 15 cows are missing from a nearby field.

An alert from the rail operator reads: ‘Animals are on the line between Peterborough and Huntingdon. This is disrupting trains between Peterborough and London Kings Cross.
‘The animals have been moved from the northbound line but work is still in progress to move the animals from the southbound line.
‘Trains in both directions may be delayed by up to 90 minutes or cancelled. This is expected to continue until 5pm.’
