Introducing GRUMPIER Cat: Permanently scowling feline gains online following for her menacing expression… but her owner insists she is actually very friendly

Move aside, Grumpy Cat. There’s a new menacing feline in town.
Hailing from Yokohama, Japan, Koyuki is the nine-year-old Scottish Fold kitty with a permanently scowling expression.
But Koyuki’s owner insists that she isn't always angry – it’s just that her permanent scowl and furrowed brow make her look it.

That hasn’t stopped her gaining some 35.6 thousand followers on Instagram and 44.3 thousand on Twitter, where people can’t get enough of that stare.
Despite her moody nature, Koyuki's name translate to the rather whimsical 'light snow'. 
Whether she’s posing with her tongue stuck out, or just giving her trademark icy stare, she manages to look both totally terrifying and rather cute. 

As the next big feline celebrity, if Koyuki’s fame continues to grow, you could be seeing that sassy stare on memes and T-shirts fairly soon.
But whether or not Koyuki is a fitting feline successor to the Grumpy throne remains to be seen.
With a film on the way, and an upcoming waxwork in the San Francisco Madam Tussauds Museum, Grumpy Cat is sure not to go down without a fight. 

Maybe they’ll find a way to live together, with their withering looks and disapproving glares.
But with the increase in status and the garnering of social media followers, it’s pretty clear the cat is out of the bag.
