Doctors remove 18-inch cassava from man who tried to use it as a pleasure toy

A man had no choice but to have surgery after an 18-inch vegetable he carved in the shape of a penis got stuck in his anus.

The patient, who has not been named, fashioned the veggie dildo out of cassava, a root vegetable native to South America.

He had sensibly covered it with two condoms before inserting it, but had to call in doctors after one of them broke inside.

Without the lubrication, the 55-year-old couldn’t get it back out without causing serious damage and potentially rupturing his intestine.

This is the vegetable:

Surgeons at San Juan de Dios Hospital in Costa Rica took more than an hour to finish the procedure, local news reported, but thankfully the patient recovered from his ordeal.

Cassava root is also known as yuca, and is a staple carbohydrate in South America. It is used to make tapioca which is used all over the world to thicken sauces and make ‘bubble tea’ in Asia.

In future, we’re hoping the patient might think about leaving it in the cupboard and visiting Ann Summers instead.
